“¡En Espanol, por favor!” Gwyneth Paltrow wants her kids Apple (9 years old) and Mose (7) to be worldly. In fact, she sometimes encourages them to speak with her only in Spanish, according to the magazine Us Weekly.
In October, Cameron Diaz invited Paltrow to her home in Beverly Hills for the wedding of her assistant, Jesse Lutz. At this party, the actress requested that her children speak only in Spanish while they were at the event.
Some years ago, Gwyneth Paltrow stared a TV show (Canal Viajar) called “Spain on the road…again” along with Mario Batali (American chef), Mark Bittman (American food journalist), and Claudia Bassols ( Spanish actress): unscripted cross-country road-trip through Spain to explore Spanish culture, food and people. She really enjoyed shooting this show because she’s a big fan of Spain since she lived in this country when she was 15 years old.
At this age she spent a year as an exchange student in Talavera de la Reina, Toledo (Spain), where she learned to speak Spanish. And she always says that her daughter Apple’s first word was “agua” (water). Isn’t curious?
Paltrow always says that Spain became a second home for her: “It is so different from the United States. It seemed to have a history, and the buildings are years and years and years old. Here in the United States an old building is about 17 (years old), and over there it’s from 500 B.C., it’s incredible”. She remains close to the family she lived with in Spain, calling them “my Spanish mother” and “my brothers” from Spain.
Gwyneth Paltrow speaks almost perfect Spanish (and she does it with an Iberian accent). And she’s not the only celebrity who loves this language (read this post). Do you want to join them? Visti us and learn or improve your Spanish. It’s fun!
